Before Easter Sunday, the lilies arrive early and must be stored in darkness to preserve their bloom and beauty. The church stores them the artist studio stairwell with the windows blacked out. Opening the door to get to this stairwell, I would be hit with a wall of the fragrant delights of these flowers each morning to get to my atelier before Easter. It was the most delightful, seasonal treat.
