Bearded Iris, 2025 Middle TN Iris Society Competition 1

Bearded Iris, 2025 Middle TN Iris Society Competition 1
Acrylic ink on transparent yupo paper (30”x ~32.5”). Each piece is hand cut, so the length varies slightly from work to work, while the width is consistently factory-cut at 30". This irregularity is intentional and part of the physicality of the series.
Painting does not include poster rails for hanging. Original signature on back.
Material + Process
These works are made on thin, transparent Yupo. The surface is non-absorbent, so paint sits on top, shifting, pooling, and sometimes breaking into droplets or small imperfections that are left as part of the image.
They are hung with poster rails, allowing them to remain lightly suspended from the wall. Light passes through the surface, so the work changes with its environment—feeling less like a fixed image and more like something in motion.
Middle Tennessee Iris Society Annual Competition (Madison, TN)
Works based on irises observed at the Middle Tennessee Iris Society’s annual competition in Madison, Tennessee. These blooms represent cultivated excellence—rare varieties, intentional hybridization, and a heightened spectrum of color, form, and complexity.
